We would like to reassure our Staff and Clients that we are following all Government guidance at this time. We are sending regular updates to our staff and reporting any COVID-19 related concerns to the relevant Client services.

We are experiencing higher demand than usual and our advice to Clients is to block-book staff. This will not only promote continuity of care but will minimise potential COVID-19 transmission by limiting the number of establishments our staff need to visit.

The health and welfare of our staff and how this impacts upon the patients and staff at our Client services is our primary concern.

UK Coronavirus (COVID-19) Staff Information Hub

Please inform our office ASAP in the event that you have to self-isolate, or you are tested positive for COVID-19.

As a healthcare professional, it is important that you keep informed on the evolving Coronavirus situation.

Given that the situation is changing so quickly, we are providing links to the following key information sites, which are updated regularly:

We understand that you may be apprehensive about working at this time.

Please rest assured, we are in regular contact with all our client services and, if we hear of any health and safety related concerns whatsoever, we will advise all relevant staff immediately.  Our client services have stringent infection control procedures in place and are well accustomed to implementing isolation measures, in the event that a patient/service user becomes contagious.

All staff will receive thorough briefings regarding enhanced health and safety procedures, prior to working.  Any staff who are allocated to work with a patient / service user in isolation will be provided with the necessary PPE (personal protective equipment) i.e. gloves, apron and a fluid repellent face mask.

NHS guidance states that healthcare workers who come into contact with a COVID-19 patient whilst not wearing PPE can remain at work. Only if they display symptoms should they self-isolate at home for the duration of the illness or 7 days, whichever is longer (they do not need to be tested for COVID-19, prior to returning to work).

We are encouraging our clients to block-book our staff wherever possible, in order to minimise the amount of client sites that you have to work in during this time, and help prevent potential COVID-19 transmission.  Please make sure you talk to your Lime Consultant regarding being block booked.

The government have put provisions in place to provide ongoing schooling for the children of key workers – which includes agency healthcare staff.  If you are required to provide evidence that you are a key worker, your Lime ID Card should suffice but please contact our office should you require assistance.

Please continue to observe usual best practice at this time, including:

  • Keep your Consultant up-to-date with your availability;
  • co-operate with the Client’s lawful instructions, act under their direction and observe relevant rules and regulations;
  • take all reasonable steps to safeguard your own health and safety and that of any other person who may be affected by your actions;
  • avoid cancelling shifts, and where you have to, ensure you phone us on our mainline number 01372 465 833;
  • don’t book work directly with Clients, without informing us – its vital that we know where you are working.

The most effective preventative measures are good personal hygiene and infection control procedures.

Please remember the need for good hand and respiratory hygiene at all times.

Guidance on infection prevention and control for COVID-19 from Public Health England

The World Health Organisation (WHO) have published a helpful guide to protecting your mental health during the outbreak. As well as general advice, such as obtaining information from reliable sources at specific times to avoid information overload, and mis-information, there is specific guidance for healthcare professionals:

  • Manage your stress levels - ensure rest and respite during work and between shifts, eat sufficient and healthy food, engage in physical activity, and stay in contact with family and friends;
  • stay connected with your loved ones through digital methods;
  • turn to your colleagues, your manager or other trusted persons for social support - your colleagues will be having similar experiences to you.
